Ba Duan Jin

Eight Pieces of Brocade

The Practice

Ba Duan Jin Qi Gong the Eight Brocades is an ancient Chinese Qi Gong practice designed to work with the body's movement, breath and Qi.

Within Traditional Chinese Medicine, the body is understood to have energy channels (meridians) connected with acupuncture points. The movements and postures of Ba Duan Jin are traditionally used to regulate these pathways and support the smooth flow of Qi.

The practice brings together:

Energy & Qi
Working with the body's energy pathways and supporting the flow of Qi

Alignment & Mobility
Developing physical alignment, flexibility and range of movement

Breath & Awareness
Coordinating breath, movement and attention

Moving Meditation
Using the movement to settle the mind and deepen body awareness

Quiet Stillness

Returning to the breath, we find stillness. Each movement is a gentle invitation to deeper presence and calm.

Beyond outward exertion, Qi Gong cultivates an inner resilience, fostering strength that is both quiet and profound.

In the space between movements, we discover a profound calm. This practice is a sanctuary from urban life's demands.
